Bareilly Marks International Labour Day with Welfare Outreach and Awareness Programme

Bareilly |The Labour Department organised a ceremony to mark International Labour Day at the Vikas Bhavan auditorium in Bareilly, highlighting worker welfare, government schemes, and labour rights.

District Magistrate Avinash Singh attended the event as the chief guest, while Jaya Priyadarshini, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, was present as the guest of honour. Several senior officials, representatives of labour organisations, and dignitaries also participated.

Addressing the gathering, the District Magistrate extended greetings to workers and described them as the true “nation builders.” He elaborated on key welfare schemes for construction workers, including maternity and child assistance, girl child marriage support, Sant Ravidas education incentive scheme, and financial aid in cases of death or disability. He also stressed the importance of implementing the revised minimum wage rates and directed employers to ensure compliance. Additionally, he highlighted the need to extend ESI and PF benefits to workers in the organised sector.

During the programme, six meritorious students from Atal Residential School were felicitated for their academic performance. Financial assistance was also distributed among beneficiaries under various schemes, including over ₹31.95 lakh to eight beneficiaries under death and disability assistance, ₹20 lakh to ten beneficiaries under pension and disability schemes, and ₹4.45 lakh to 16 beneficiaries under maternity and child welfare schemes.

Officials also raised awareness about the new labour codes and highlighted initiatives such as quality residential education facilities at Atal Residential Schools for workers’ children.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment to safeguarding workers’ rights and ensuring their welfare through effective implementation of government schemes.
